Hope the vintage nude collage element in this one doesn't offend anyone. Personally, I think she's beautiful.
This ATC is super dimensional with lots of Diamond Glaze, glitter glue, silver beads, Swarovski crystals, and glossy sealant (to make her hair really shine.) I made the seaweed striped for a Zetti feel.
For my friend Annie at www.illustratedATCs.com.
My great friend Andrea sent this to me today and I swear, it's the best thing I've ever seen, in my entire life.
Here are the next few completed pages for the Funky Chunky Zetti book swap I'm in. I pulled an all-nighter as I was feeling really in the creative zone last night. I'm paying for it today, of course. Am I even awake, or is this a dream??? :)~
First... FLY.
Second, 100% ZETTI.
Third, BOTH GOOD BOYS (my favorite so far, and probably the most "me" in terms of graphic design. I tend toward the crisp and clean in my design style and admit it's hard for me to get to chaos with Zetti at times, without feeling like I'm forcing it.)
And last (for now), ZETTI LOVE, featuring an original acrylic portrait that jumped straight out of my brain and onto the paper. I'm liking painting more and more and hope to play around on some real canvases at some point soon.
My kids were away this weekend and I waaaay caught up on sleep Saturday and Sunday, so I wasn't tired last night and went on another creative all-night tear.
Here's the first thing dry and ready to post... a chunky book page for Dana. Her chosen theme was, "your (my) interpretation of the Tree of Life." I did some research at Wiki and found out there are about twenty bajillion interpretations and representations of the Tree of Life, so I went with a "we're one family, one planet, one earth" kind of love-one-another, take-care-of-mother-earth, kumbaya thing.
This one's ONE US.
One of my favorite art card forums posted the topic Great forgotten songs of the 80's today, and I was reminded of some very happy high school and college years, and of A-Ha's happy-licious Take on Me, one of my favorite songs of all time (even though I really can't understand a word they're saying.)
Enjoy!
I love(/hate) the internet. There are so many cool tools to be found, which I love. The "hate" part comes about as a result of all the time I spend dorking around with those tools, and getting frustrated by them.
Happily, there are a few widgets that are easy, fun, AND effective. And even fewer -- but still, some! -- that are aesthetically pleasing and interesting to boot. Slide.com offers one such widget.
As part of my website update, I'm reworking my Gallery slideshow to bring my showcase up to date. I used Slide.com the last time and decided to revisit them this time around, as well. So I spent the better part of this morning goofing off at Slide.com and having fun with their myriad options, and came up with something I really like that I think suits my branding well, that I stuck on my website.
Below, find a second, very cool version that I really love the look of, but which wasn't ideal for my website's style and for best viewing by my visitors, so I ended up not using it. I mean, you can't remove the color from your work, if you want it to really *pop*! Right?!?
Still, this combination of effects pleased me so much, I just had to put this finished slideshow somewhere, so I can view it again and again, and so I can share it with others. So onto my blog it goes!
Enjoy the old-world, vintage movie reel effect... and, also, I hope, my body of furry work.
I've been kinda out of the graphic design thang for a while now but with the coming of the teddy bear "season" -- bears fly off shelves from fall to spring -- and with my time entirely my own for the first time in many months, it seemed like a good time, any way you slice it, to redesign my website and blog. Because I'm churningly OCD about some things, though, and because when I get into redo mode I tend to do so on in a kinda manic way (sub-clinically manic, btw), I just HAD to redo my avatar at Teddy Talk, too. And since I've been expanding my branding to include dolls and art cards more broadly, I decided to include them on my avatar as well. You like?
In the spirit of full disclosure, I should mention that I'm currently also redoing every throw pillow on every sofa in the house, as well as the color scheme of my kitchen/family room and possibly, the downstairs bath. When it rains, it pours. But hey... This kind of raw energy and motivation comes in waves, and only once in a blue moon. I'm no dummy. Use it or lose it, baby! :)~
